Nights on VenusDebut Album Available Now on iTunes, CD Baby, and Amazon MP3It was during the hellish Texas summer of 2010 when multi-instrumentalist Craig Thomas was writing and recording new material that Nights on Venus was first conceived… and then officially launched three months later after he had moved to Denver, CO. “Back then I figured what I was recording was just solo work for an album at some point,” Craig says, “but some of the material was slower and lent itself to a longer song format which contrasted with the more up-tempo, pop-oriented material I had already done. At some point as I was listening to these longer, slower pieces, I said to myself, ‘this sounds like Nights on Venus’. It seemed to fit.” Fast forward 8 months and the Nights on Venus debut album arrives, released on June 5, 2011 with Thomas and NoV based in Dallas once again... “for a while,” he adds. In between he wrote, played and recorded the songs that became the first album, handling the production and engineering duties as well. Craig is a computer-based musician and works in a PC environment using Propellerhead Reason and Record software. Atmospheric, ethereal, smooth, dense, and hypnotic are words that have been used to describe the music on the album… “rich landscapes of sound.” Thomas calls these songs “sonic paintings”, referencing his own seemingly parallel career in art as a painter and photographer. The self-titled debut album is available as a digital download (MP3 album) on CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon.mp3, eMusic, and in the Nights on Venus Store on ReverbNation.
